The Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office offers an in-house detention program using a GPS electronic monitoring system. This offender-pay system provides an alternative option to incarceration for approved, non-violent offenders who may require less than institutional custody.
iSECUREtrac Corporation, based out of Omaha, provides the Sheriff’s Office the most reliable cellular based electronic monitoring systems on the market, including house arrest, curfew management, GPS location and alcohol monitoring.
The potential client completes an application (see below) and with his/her attorney, submits that to the Electronic Monitoring Division for processing. The client is required to attend an interview with EM staff and rules and regulations are explained and then it is determined whether the applicant is approved for EM. The Judge, County Attorney and EM staff all must be in agreement for the applicant to receive EM instead of jail time.

Application procedures for sentenced and pre-sentenced applicants:
Defense Attorney (if applicable) and client fill out and sign the application.
Defense Attorney forwards the application (by e-mail, fax, or mail) to the EM staff.
Background, NCIC Criminal History, Restraining Order, Room and Board Checks are made.
Attorney's MUST tell their clients TO CALL EM staff, to set up an interview.
Applicant attends scheduled interview with EM staff where rules, prices, equipment and hook-up are explained.
Attorney is notified of tenative hook-up date by EM staff.
Attorney can then get applicant sentenced if applicable.
Applicant reports to EM office on sheduled hook-up date.
Anyone that is approved and serves time on Electronic Monitoring does NOT get credit for time served OR GOOD TIME CREDIT, and they agree the original sentence gets DOUBLED when on Electronic Monitoring. Once the time gets doubled, it stays doubled, even in the event of a revocation. Electronic Monitoring does not accept anyone for less than seven days.
