Matthew A. Ung, a lifetime resident of Woodbury County, was elected to the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors November 4, 2014 and was sworn in November 10, 2014 to fill out the remainder of a term in addition to his four-year term. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Creighton University along with a Master of Theology degree, and has over 10 years' experience in healthcare administration. He has been married to his wife Nheylin for over 9 years.

His focuses are to champion tax relief, prioritize essential functions of government like infrastructure, and contribute to long-term economic planning and development. Matthew believes county residents want a customer-oriented Board of Supervisors that is transparent, responsive, and accountable.

Committees Serving On: Policy Review Committee, Security Institute Commission, Courthouse Advisory Committee for Historical Preservation, Loess Hills Alliance, Loess Hills Scenic Byway, Western Iowa Tourism, Health & Wellness Committee, LEC Expansion Committee.


Woodbury County Board of Supervisors Assignments


Liaisons from the Board act as a two-way conduit of information both to implement Board policy and direction as well as to keep the Board informed and involved concerning each Department. While each supervisor is assumed to have an “open door policy,” the proper procedure for dealing with concerns is to channel them through the appropriate supervisor. In this way, supervisors can divide their time and focus in the most productive manner.
