Join a team of 4 Dietitians providing nutrition assessment and education to Woodbury County Families within the WIC Program. Siouxland WIC services are provided daytime Monday through Friday at Siouxland District Health Department (SDHD) in Sioux City, IA. SDHD offers a wide array of services in a progressive public health environment that allows you the ability to interact with public health professionals working in our nursing, laboratory, environmental and wellness arenas. SDHD offers an onsite fitness room, involvement in wellness activities and a lactation/relaxation room. Starting salary is offered in a range based on experience along with an excellent benefit package, including medical, dental and vision insurance, sick and vacation time, paid holidays, IPERS and deferred compensation plan. Community opportunities for involvement exist, including community gardens, health/wellness activities, cultural events and our City’s designation as a Blues Zone City. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Public Health Dietitian is responsible as the competent professional authority for determination of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program eligibility and certification following assessment of individual anthropometric, biochemical and dietary data. Possessing the knowledge of nutritional needs across the maternal child health life span and using critical thinking skills, the Dietitian will provide nutrition assessment, education, referral, care coordination services and tailor the WIC food prescription to best meet individual nutrition needs of the participant. Promotion and support will be provided to breastfeeding women, their infants and breastfeeding efforts. Nutrition services will be provided to Maternal Child Adolescent Health and other SDHD public health programming.

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, dietetics, food systems management or closely related field. Must possess current licensure as a Licensed Dietitian in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Dietetic Examiners or able to obtain license within 6 months of employment. Current dietetic registration preferred through the Commission on Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or eligible for registration within 6 months of employment. A minimum of 1 year experience in general dietetics is desired with experience in maternal/child nutrition preferred. Mandatory Child and Adult Abuse Reporter Training required or obtain within 6 months of employment. Computer skills required. Must have valid Driver License, ability to obtain car insurance at agency-specified liability level and reliable transportation. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.

A completed County application form, a resume, a copy of transcripts or diploma and a copy of current Dietitian License (if applicable) are required.
