WOODBURY COUNTY ZONING COMMISSION TO HOLD PUBLIC TOWN HALL MEETINGS ON DATA CENTER ZONING ORDINANCE REGULATIONS FOR THE UNINCORPORATED AREA
WOODBURY COUNTY, IOWA — The Woodbury County Zoning Commission will host three initial public listening sessions to gather citizen input on potential amendments to the Woodbury County Zoning Ordinance regarding data center facilities in unincorporated areas. Additional meetings will be scheduled in other Woodbury County communities as needed.
The Zoning Commission is studying data centers with the mission to prepare a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on how to facilitate the permitting application process in the Woodbury County Zoning Ordinance as a zoning ordinance text amendment or another ordinance. The Commission will be seeking input on potential requirements and regulations, as well as zoning districts (locations) such as the General Industrial (GI) Zoning District, and the permitting application process itself, such as a conditional use permit or a comparable mechanism.
IMPORTANT JURISDICTIONAL NOTICE: These town hall meetings and proposed zoning regulations apply ONLY to unincorporated areas under Woodbury County zoning jurisdiction. Incorporated cities and towns within Woodbury County regulate their own zoning ordinances and corporate boundaries independently.
