Reserve Deputy Program

The mission of the Reserve Unit is to assist the Sheriff's Office in any capacity deemed necessary by the sheriff, as well as work with various groups and organizations in the community. Reserves assist with crowd and traffic control, training of full-time law enforcement, court security and transportation of inmates, and general deputy support.

The reserve deputy must be committed to training and must possess a high level of integrity, maturity, and respect. As a reserve in basic training, you will be required to meet every Wednesday night from 1800 hours to 2200 hours. Once certified as a reserve, mandatory attendence is required at monthly meetings with some exceptions.

Since the Woodbury County Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit is a volunteer, non-profit program, we are supported by donations from the public and do not provide equipment. All equipment purchased by the reserve deputy must meet Sheriff's Office approval.
