Essential Functions
The Nutrition Assistant is responsible as the competent professional authority for determination of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program eligibility and certification following assessment of individual anthropometric, biochemical and dietary data. The Nutrition Assistant will provide nutrition assessment, education, referral, care coordination services and tailor the WIC food prescription to meet individual nutrition needs of the participant. Promotion and support will be provided to breastfeeding woman, their infants and breastfeeding efforts. Nutrition services will be provided to Maternal Child Adolescent Health and other SDHD public health programming. Must possess a high school diploma, or GED. Some post-secondary education or training in a health or nutrition field is recommended. Minimum of two years of related work in a professional setting. Mandatory Child and Adult Reporter Training required or obtain within 6 months of employment. Computer skills required. Must have valid Driver License, ability to obtain car insurance at agency-specified liability level and reliable transportation. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.
