Summary
Essential Functions
Essential Duties:- Supervision of daily operations of clinic services including but not limited to referrals, scheduling, and communication with clients and staff.
- Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation.
- Communicate regularly with assigned staff on progress toward result/goal productivity, providing feedback, and initiating ideas or actions for continued growth.
- Recognize and report potential legal or physical hazards.
- Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
- Maintains clinic guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
- Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of clinical records, clinic statistics and clinic reports according to established policy and procedure.
- Serve on internal and external committees providing information about public health services and participate in the assessment of community needs to establish or revise public health programs, policies and procedures.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to a work environment that fosters ongoing educational experiences regarding public health practice for colleagues, other health-related students, healthcare professionals and members of the community.
- Adhere to applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, such as those concerning bloodborne pathogens, airborne pathogens, communicable diseases or exposure to other hazards during routine assignments or during public health emergencies.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Agency Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the quality improvement process within the agency.
- Ensure compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) covering the security and privacy of confidential client data.
- Ensure participant records and communication with participants, co-workers and other health professionals are in accordance with Confidentiality Policy.
- Attend and participate in work-related meetings, conferences/seminars and committees.
- Assist in agency/division planning and response to disaster situations and emergency situations or events in conjunction with agency emergency plan.
- Provide customer service that is courteous and responsive.
- Demonstrate professional oral, phone and written communication skills.
- Model professional behavior to peers and participants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability
Must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa; Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing, including coursework in public health/community health required; minimum of two years’ experience in general nursing is required. Experience in child health, public health, office/clinic setting and/or home health is encouraged. Mandatory Child & Adult Abuse Reporter Certification and CPR Certification required or willing to obtain; bilingual skills beneficial; computer skills needed; ability to work with diverse populations and to work independently in an unstructured setting with minimal supervision; physical ability to transport essential supplies and to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and ability to obtain car insurance at agency-specified liability level.
