SEPTEMBER 16, 2005-SPECIAL MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Friday, September 16, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. Board members present were Boykin, Clausen, and Monson. Staff members present were Victoria L. Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections, and Patrick F. Gill, County Auditor/Clerk to the Board.

The meeting was called to order to canvass the Annual School Board Election held in Woodbury County on September 13, 2005.

Victoria Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections, announced there were two (2) provisional ballots of which none were accepted, and three (3) after election absentee ballots which were accepted and added to the tally. Official Canvass results were as follows:

For the office of Anthon-Oto Community School District Board Member Director District 1,
1 Vacancy, there were one-hundred, fifty-three (153) ballots cast as follows:

Judee R. Schumann
received One-hundred, thirty-eight 138 votes

Scattered Write-In Votes
received Nine 9 votes

We therefore declare Judee R. Schumann duly elected to the office of Anthon-Oto Community School District Board Member-Director District 1 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Anthon-Oto Community School District Board Member Director District 2,
1 Vacancy, there were one-hundred, fifty-three (153) ballots cast as follows:

Patrick Pierce
received One-hundred, forty-one 141 votes

Scattered Write-In Votes
received Eight 8 votes

We therefore declare Patrick Pierce duly elected to the office of Anthon-Oto Community School District Board Member-Director District 2 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Lawton-Bronson Community School District Board Member-Director District 1, 1 Vacancy there were one-hundred, ninety-one (191) ballots cast as follows:

Paul Roberts
received One-hundred, forty-six 146 votes

Bruce W. Sorensen
received Forty-four 44 votes

Scattered Write-in Votes
received Zero 0 votes

We therefore declare Paul Roberts duly elected to the office of Lawton-Bronson Community School District Board Member-Director District 1 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Lawton-Bronson Community School District Board Member-Director District 2, 1 Vacancy there were one-hundred, ninety-one (191) ballots cast as follows:

Kevin Grieme
received One-hundred, seventy-two 172 votes

Scattered Write-in Votes
received Five 5 votes

We therefore declare Kevin Grieme duly elected to the office of Lawton-Bronson Community School District Board Member-Director District 2 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of River Valley Community School District Board Member, 1 Vacancy, there were
three-hundred, seventeen (317) ballots cast as follows:

Scott Knaack
received One-hundred, one 101 votes

Lyle Paulsen
received Two hundred, twelve 212 votes

Scattered Write-in Votes
received Four 4 votes

We therefore declare Lyle Paulsen duly elected to the office of River Valley Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School District Board Member,
1 Vacancy there were three-hundred, ninety (390) ballots cast as follows:

Brad Baird
received Two-hundred, eleven 211 votes

Chris Thomas
received One-hundred, seventy-one 171 votes

Scattered Write-Ins
received Ten 10 votes

We therefore declare Brad Baird duly elected to the office of Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Sioux City Community School District Board Member, 2 Vacancies,
there were One-thousand, seven-hundred, eighty-nine (1,789) ballots cast as follows:

Ronald A. Jorgensen received
One-thousand, four-hundred, forty-three 1,443 votes

Judy K. Peterson received
One-thousand, four-hundred, twenty-eight 1,428 votes

Lamont L. Wright received
Three-hundred, ninety-five 395 votes

Scattered Write-Ins received
Thirty-four 34 votes

We therefore declare Ronald A. Jorgensen and Judy K. Peterson duly elected to the office of Sioux City Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Westwood Community School District Board Member, 2 Vacancies, there were
two-hundred, nineteen (219) ballots cast as follows:

Steven Jewett
received One-hundred, twenty-nine 129 votes

Roxie A. Ullrich
received One hundred, seventy-five 175 votes

Kirk Douglas Wiggs
received One-hundred, two 102 votes

Scattered Write-Ins
received Three 3 votes

We therefore declare Steven Jewett and Roxie A. Ullrich duly elected to the office of Westwood Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Woodbury Central Community School District Board Member, 2 Vacancies, there were forty-one (41) ballots cast as follows:

Marc T. Boothby
received Thirty-nine 39 votes

Joyce Brende Kizzier
received Thirty-six 36 votes

Scattered Write-Ins
received Zero 0 votes

We therefore declare Marc T. Boothby and Joyce Brende Kizzier duly elected to the office of Woodbury Central Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.


Motion by Clausen second by Monson to approve and accept the Official Canvass results. Carried 3-0. Copy filed.

The Board adjourned the meeting.
