SEPTEMBER 15, 2006-SPECIAL MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Friday, September 15, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. Board members present were Boykin, Clausen, and Walish. Staff members present were Victoria L. Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections/Clerk to the Board.

The meeting was called to order to canvass the Annual School Board Election held in Woodbury County on September 12, 2006.

Victoria Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections, announced there were four (4) provisional ballots of which all were accepted and added to the tally. There were three (3) after-election absentee ballots which were received timely and added to the tally. Official Canvass results were as follows:

For the office of Anthon-Oto Community School District Board Member Director District 4,
1 Vacancy, there were eighty-three (83) ballots cast as follows:

Daniel Brant
received Seventy-three (73) votes

Scattered Write-In Votes
received Four (4) votes

We therefore declare Daniel Brant duly elected to the office of Anthon-Oto Community School District Board Member-Director District 4 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Anthon-Oto Community School District Board Member Director District 5,
1 Vacancy, there were eighty-three (83) ballots cast as follows:

Kirk Feddersen, Write-in
received Fifty-six (56) votes

Scattered Write-In Votes
received Fifty-nine (59) votes

We therefore declare Kirk Feddersen duly elected to the office of Anthon-Oto Community School District Board Member-Director District 5 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Lawton-Bronson Community School District Board Member-Director District 5, 1 Vacancy there were seventy-four (74) ballots cast as follows:

Machele Dunning
received Forty-three (43) votes

Scattered Write-in Votes
received Thirty-one (31) votes

We therefore declare Machele Dunning duly elected to the office of Lawton-Bronson Community School District Board Member-Director District 5 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of River Valley Community School District Board Member Director District 1, 1 Vacancy, there were two-hundred, sixty-three (263) ballots cast as follows:

David Scott Carnes
received One-hundred, forty-three (143) votes

Marty E. Lau
received One hundred, seventeen (117) votes

Scattered Write-in Votes
received Zero (0) votes

We therefore declare David Scott Carnes duly elected to the office of River Valley Community School District Board Member Director District 1 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of River Valley Community School District Board Member Director District 4, 1 Vacancy, there were two-hundred, sixty-three (263) ballots cast as follows:

Terry L. Jensen
received One-hundred, forty-two (142) votes

Craig Shever
received One hundred, nine (109) votes

Scattered Write-in Votes
received Zero (0) votes

We therefore declare Terry L. Jensen duly elected to the office of River Valley Community School District Board Member Director District 4 for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School District Board Member, 2 Vacancies, there were four-hundred and ten (410) ballots cast as follows:

Phil Elder
received One-hundred, thirty-nine (139) votes

David L. Schaar
received Three-hundred, ten (310) votes

Neil Stockfleth
received Two-hundred, twenty-three (223) votes

Scattered Write-Ins
received Twelve (12) votes

We therefore declare David L. Schaar and Neil Stockfleth duly elected to the office of Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Sioux City Community School District Board Member, 3 Vacancies, there were eight-hundred, ninety-one (891) ballots cast as follows:

Douglas K. Batcheller received Seven-hundred, forty-five 745 votes

Jim Daane
received Seven-hundred, twenty-nine (729) votes

Nancy Mounts
received Seven-hundred, thirty-nine (739) votes

Scattered Write-Ins
received Forty-four (44) votes

We therefore declare Douglas K. Batcheller, Jim Daane, and Nancy Mounts duly elected to the office of Sioux City Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Westwood Community School District Board Member, 2 Vacancies, there were two-hundred, eighty-three (283) ballots cast as follows:

Martin Choquette
received One-hundred, eighty-eight (188) votes

Dennis Gallagher
received One hundred, fifty-two (152) votes

James J. McKenna
received One-hundred, twenty-eight (128) votes

Kirk Douglas Wiggs
received Seventy-one (71) votes

Scattered Write-Ins
received Three (3) votes

We therefore declare Martin Choquette and Dennis Gallagher duly elected to the office of Westwood Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.


For the office of Woodbury Central Community School District Board Member, 3 Vacancies, there were seventy-three (73) ballots cast as follows:

Thomas E. Conolly
received Fifty-eight (58) votes

Chad C. Hayes
received Forty-nine (49)votes

Brian J. Sadler
received Fifty-eight (58) votes

Scattered Write-Ins
received Fifteen (15) votes

We therefore declare Thomas E. Conolly, Chad C. Hayes, and Brian J. Sadler duly elected to the office of Woodbury Central Community School District Board Member for the term of three (3) years.

Motion by Boykin second by Walish to approve and accept the Official Canvass results. Carried 3-0. Copy filed.

The Board adjourned the meeting.
