MAY 24, 2011 — TWENTYTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.  Board members present were Boykin, Monson, Clausen and Smith, and Tripp was absent.  Staff members present were:  Heather Satterwhite, Public Bidder, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.

The Claims were approved as presented.  Copy filed.

The meeting was called to order.
 
Motion by Smith second by Boykin to approve the minutes of the May 17, 2011 Board meeting.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

The Board approved the Appointment of Mary E. Burroughs, Temporary Engineering Aide, Secondary Roads Dept., $10.00/hour, effective 05/25/2011.  Not to exceed 120 days.  Copy filed.

The Board approved the Appointment of Cory M. Gaston, Temporary Engineering Aide, Secondary Roads Dept., $10.00/hour, effective 05/25/2011.  Not to exceed 120 days.  Copy filed.

The Board approved the Appointment of Nickolas A. Rogers, Civilian Jailer, County Sheriff Dept., $16.16/hour, effective 05/25/11.  Job vacancy posted:  02-23-11. Entry Level Salary:  $16.16/hour.  Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to receive for consideration the final platting for:  The re-plat of Lot 2 of Joyful Acres First Addition – GIS Parcel #894306100002 and to refer to the Zoning Commission for public hearing and recommendation.  Carried 4-0. 
 
Motion by Clausen second by Smith to approve Steffen Engineering to perform Environmental Study on County owned Property at 3420 Old Lakeport Rd.  Carried 4-0. 

County Engineer Mark Nahra recommended award of a motor grader bid to Murphy Tractor for a John Deere 772G motor grader for $273,173.00 less the trade-in amount of $47,500.00 for the county’s current machine resulting in a net purchase price of $225,763.

Motion by Smith second by Boykin to award the bid per recommendation of County Engineer, Mark Nahra.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.
      
County Engineer Mark Nahra recommended award of a tandem axle dump truck to Holcomb Freightliner for a price of $181,405.00 less trade-in amount of a of $21,000.00 for the county’s current  unit for a net purchase of $155,505.00 if unit is a 2012 truck.  If a 2012 is not available and a 2013 is delivered, the purchase price is $182,748.00, less trade for the county unit of $21,000.00 for a net purchase price of $156,848.00

Motion by Boykin second by Smith to award the bid per recommendation of County Engineer, Mark Nahra.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.
 
Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Permit to Work in the County Right of Way for overhead and/or buried utilities accommodation submitted by Qwest on 220th Street, per Recommendation of County Engineer Mark Nahra.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Smith second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign an underground tile permit submitted by Don Albers on Liston Blvd., per recommendation of County Engineer Mark Nahra.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Discussion on overtime issues within County Sheriff’s office with Greg Logan.

The Chairman asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda, or Supervisors concerns.
 
The Board adjourned the regular meeting until May 31, 2011.
