AUGUST 09, 2011 — THIRTY-SECOND MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, August 09, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.  Board members present were Monson, Clausen, Tripp and Smith; Boykin was absent.  Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.

The Claims were approved as presented.  Copy filed.

The meeting was called to order.
 
Motion by Clausen second by Tripp to approve the minutes of the 08/02/2011 Board meeting.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

The Board approved the Appointment of Lisa Robinson, P/T Clerk II, Veteran Affairs Dept., effective 08/15/11, $13.42/hour.  Job vacancy posted: 6-15-11.  Entry Level Salary:  $13.42/hour.  Copy filed.
 
The Board approved the Reclassification of Jill Figueroa, Assistant Director, Juvenile Detention Dept., effective 08/18/11, $50,722/year, 2=$988/year.  Per wage Plan matrix, 3 year salary increase.  Copy filed.

The Board approved the Reclassification of Kimberly Grieve, Clerk II, Auditor Dept., effective 08/21/11, $17.77/hour, 11%=$1.71/hour.  Per AFSCME court house contract agreement, from Grade 3/Step 4 to Grade 3/Step 5.  Copy filed.

The Board approved the Reclassification of Gerad Lukken, Civilian Jailer, Sheriff Dept., effective 08/26/11, $19.48/hour, 11%=$1.91/hour.  Per CWA Civilian Officers Contract Agreement, from Class 1 to Senior Class.  Copy filed.
 
Motion by Clausen second by Tripp to acknowledge the appointment of Allan Pithan, 112 Country Club Drive, Anthon, Iowa, for the office of Mayor for the City of Anthon, to fill a vacancy until the Regular City Election of 2011, for the office previously held by Troy McCormick.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.
 
Motion by Tripp second by Clausen to acknowledge the appointment of Bob Clausen, 409 E. Randolph Street, Anthon, Iowa, for the office of Council Member for the City of Anthon, to fill a vacancy until the Regular City Election of 2011, for the office previously held by Sue White.  Carried 4-0.

The Board discussed a process to remove the Sergeant Bluff Maintenance Building with Mark Nahra, County Engineer.

Motion by Smith second by Tripp to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Permit to Work in the County Right of Way by Sorenson Trust per Recommendation of County Engineer Mark Nahra.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Tripp to approve the contract with Vogel Traffic Service for pavement markings per recommendation of Mark Nahra, County Engineer.   Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Bid letting was held at 10:20 a.m. for propane gas for Secondary Roads Dept.  The bids were as follows:

Motion by Clausen second by Tripp to refer the bids to the county engineer for review and recommendation.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Bid letting was held at 10:25 a.m. for calcium chloride for Secondary Roads Dept. The bids were as follows:

Motion by Clausen second by Smith to award the bid for calcium chloride to Scotwood Industries Inc. for the bid amount of $35,910.00.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Tripp to award the bid for propane gas to Rodney Propane for the bid amount of $66,299.00.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

The Chairman asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda, or Supervisors concerns.
 
The Board adjourned the regular meeting until August 16, 2011.
