MAY 1, 2018, EIGHTEENTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  Board members present were Ung, De Witt, Taylor, Pottebaum, and Radig.  Staff members present were Dennis Butler, Budget/Tax Analyst, Karen James, Board Administrative Assistant, Melissa Thomas, Human Resources Director, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.

The Board read a proclamation for the Rededication of the 100th Anniversary Courthouse Cornerstone.

Remarks were made by Rocky De Witt, Chairman Board of Supervisors, Jeremy Taylor, Board of Supervisors and Co-Chair, Woodbury County Historical Committee and Jim Jung, Co-Chair, Woodbury County Historical Committee.

The Board members participated in the placement of a new time capsule in the Courthouse Cornerstone.  Items placed in the time capsule consisted of:

The regular meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a Moment of Silence.

A RESOLUTION THANKING AND COMMENDING

DENNIS WILSON

FOR HIS SERVICE TO WOODBURY COUNTY

WHEREAS, Dennis Wilson has capably served Woodbury County as an employee of the Sheriff’s Office for 27 years from October 16, 1991 to May 31, 2018; and

WHEREAS, the service given by Dennis Wilson as a Woodbury County employee, has been characterized by his dedication to the best interests of the citizens of Woodbury County; and

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF WOODBURY COUNTY, IOWA that the undersigned members of this Board thanks and commends Dennis Wilson for his years of service to Woodbury County; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the wish of all those signing below that the future hold only the best for this very deserving person, Dennis Wilson.

BE IT SO RESOLVED this 1st day of May, 2018.

To approve the appointment of Abby Nissen, Temporary Engineering Aide, Secondary Roads Dept., effective 05-14-18, $14.00/hour.  Not to exceed 120 days.; and the reclassification of Travis Ryan, Civilian Jailer, County Sheriff Dept., effective 05-15-18, $19.48/hour, 4%=$.76/hour.  Per CWA Civilian Officers Contract agreement, from Class 3 to Class 2.  Copy filed.

A resolution thanking and commending Mona Scaletta for her years of service with Woodbury County was presented by the Board Chair Person.   Copy filed.

A Bid letting was held for supply of 10’x6’ precast box culvert.  The bids are as follows:

Hancock  $36,345.19

Cemcast  $43,456.00

Motion by Radig second by Ung receive the bids and award the bid to Hancock for $36,345.19.  Carried 5-0.  Copy filed.

The Board heard reports on committee meetings.

Harold Postma addressed the Board.

Board concerns.

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until May 8, 2018.
