JULY 31, 2018, THIRTIETH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.  Board members present were Ung (by phone), De Witt, Pottebaum and Radig; Taylor was absent.  Staff members present were Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, Dennis Butler, Budget/Tax Analyst, Karen James, Board Administrative Assistant, Melissa Thomas, Human Resources Director, and Patrick Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.      

The regular meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a Moment of Silence.

There were no citizen concerns.

Motion by De Witt second by Radig to approve the agenda for July 31, 2018.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by De Witt second by Radig to approve the following items by consent:

To approve minutes of the July 24, 2018 meeting.  Copy filed.

To approve the claims totaling $325,273.75.  Copy filed.

To approve the appointment of Jay Hardy, 3179 250th St., Anthon, to the Woodbury County Library Board.  Copy filed.

To receive the appointment of Miyuki Nelson, 1935 Plum Creek Rd., Sioux City, as a Sioux City School Board Director.  The appointment was made on July 16, 2018, to fill the position previously held by Mike Krysl, until the next regular election.  Copy filed.

To receive the County Recorder’s Report of Fees Collected for the period of 04/01/18 through 06/30/18.  Copy filed.

To approve the separation of Tyler Petty, Temporary Summer Laborer, Secondary Roads Dept., effective 07-26-18.  End of Temporary Work.; the separation of Nathan Payne, Temporary Summer Laborer, Secondary Roads Dept., effective 07-27-18. End of Temporary Work.; the reclassification of Robert Sorensen, P/T Courthouse Safety & Security Officer, County Sheriff Dept., effective 08-12-18, $21.07/hour, 10.7%=$2.04/hour.  Per Wage Plan Comparability with AFSCME Courthouse Contract, from Grade 3/Step 4 to Grade 3/Step 5.; and the end of probation of Cory Brown, Equipment Operator, Secondary Roads Dept., effective 08-14-18, $23.56/hour, 3%=$.71/hour.  Per CWA Secondary Roads Contract agreement, End of Probation Salary Increase.  Copy filed.

To approve the permit to work in the right of way for Lawton Bronson Family Group.  Copy filed.

To set a public hearing for Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 4:45 p.m. for the Meyer Addition Minor Subdivision Final Plat.  Copy filed.

Carried 4-0.

Information was presented on the changes to the proposed Expo Event Center.  Copy filed.

Motion by Pottebaum second by De Witt to approve the Telecommunications Facilities Exchange Agreement between the City of Sioux City and Woodbury County.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Pottebaum second by De Witt to approve the Telecommunications Facilities Exchange Agreement with the Railroad Museum.  Carried 4-0. Copy filed

Motion by De Witt second by Radig to approve plans for project #L-B(J9)—73-97.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Pottebaum second by De Witt to approve the Inter-local Agreement between the City of Sioux City and Woodbury County.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

The Board heard reports on committee meetings.

There were no citizen concerns. 

Board concerns were heard.

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until August 7, 2018.
