Minutes - 10/12/2023 - Canvass City Primary Election

OCTOBER 12, 2023, SPECIAL MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 4:15 p.m.  Board members present were Taylor, Radig, Nelson, and Bittinger II; Ung was not present.  Staff members present were Patrick Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.

The meeting was called to order to canvass the City Primary Election held in Woodbury County on October 10, 2023

Steve Hofmeyer, Deputy Commissioner of Elections, announced there were 3 total provisional ballots, 3 of which were accepted and added to the tally, and 6 after election ballots, 5 were rejected because they were late, and 1 safe at home after-election ballot, which was accepted and added to the tally.  Official Canvass results are as follows:

For the office of City of Sioux City Council Member there were two thousand, four hundred and twenty (2,420) ballots cast as follows:

Tom Murphy                         received                Seven hundred and sixty-three (763) votes

Julie Schoenherr                  received                One thousand and seven (1,007) votes

Tricia Lynn Frederick          received                Six hundred and twenty-four (624) votes

Scattered write-ins              received                Nine (9) votes

We therefore declare Tom Murphy and Julie Schoenherr duly elected to go on to the City/School Election on November 7, 2023.

Motion by Radig second by Bittinger to approve and receive the official canvass of the City Primary Election.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

The Board adjourned the meeting.
