March 31st Property Tax Payment Deadline

Mail must be postmarked by a USPS location on or before March 31st to avoid penalty.  Do not rely on dropping your mail in the post box as that does not guarantee the day’s postmark.  If you drop off your mail on the last day, you need to ensure there is a postmark by asking for one inside the post office.  Mailed payments - regardless of when it was dropped off – with a postmark of April will be charged penalty.  Since mail is processed through Sioux Falls, if you drop off your tax payment at a local post office, you must ask for a postmark from the local branch.

Online payment of taxes can be made up until midnight on March 31st, 2026 without penalty.  Delinquent interest will begin online at 12:00am on April 1st.

Drop-box payments can be made at the Trosper-Hoyt building by midnight on March 31, 2026.  The drop-box is located next to the drive-up window.
