SEPTEMBER 11, 1998 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Friday, September 11, 1998 at 8:30 A.M. Board members present were Boykin, Clausen and Welte. Staff members present were Vicki Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections, in the absence of Patrick F. Gill, County Auditor/Board Secretary.

The meeting was called to order to canvass the Annual School Board Elections held in Woodbury County on September 8, 1998.

Vicki Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections announced there were four (4) special challenged ballots, of which two (2) ballots were accepted and added to the Tally for the Sioux City Community School District and there were two (2) after election absentee ballots that were postmarked the day before the election and received prior to the canvass that were added to the Tally for the Lawton-Bronson Community School District.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to accept the Official Canvass results as follows:

For the office of Anthon-Oto School Board Director District #3 there were One Hundred Eight (108) votes cast as follows:

Cindy Curtin (Write-in) received Fifty-Seven (57) votes
Greg Drea (Write-in) received Forty-One (41) votes
Aaron Carmen (Write-in) received Three (3) votes
Scattered received Seven (7) votes

We therefore declare Cindy Curtin duly elected to the office of School Board #3 for the term of 3 years.

For the office of Kingsley-Pierson School Board Director District #3 there were Sixteen (16) votes cast as follows:

Gregg Roepke received Fifteen (15) votes

For the office of Kingsley-Pierson School Board Director District #5 there were Sixteen votes cast as follows:

Dan Hagan received Sixteen (16) votes

For the office of Lawton-Bronson School Board Director District #5 there were Five Hundred Fourteen (514) votes cast as follows:

Dennis Dashner received One Hundred Forty-One (141) votes
Randy D. Horsley received Two Hundred Fifty-Nine (259) votes
Melvin Robinson received One Hundred Fourteen (114) votes

We therefore declare Randy D. Horsley duly elected to the office of School Board #5 for the term of 3 years.

For the office of River Valley School Board Director District #2 there were Seventy-Eight (78) votes cast as follows:

Roy D. Linn received Seventy-Five (75) votes
Linda Todd (Write-in) received One (1) vote
Perry Slota (Write-in) received One (1) vote
Kirk Utesch (Write-in) received One (1) vote

We therefore declare Roy D. Linn duly elected to the office of School Board #2 for the term of 3 years.

For the office of River Valley School Board Director District #3 there were Seventy-Eight (78) votes cast as follows:

Sally C. Deeds received Seventy-Seven (77) votes

We therefore declare Sally C. Deeds duly elected to the office of School Board #3 for the term of 3 years.

For the office of Sergeant Bluff-Luton School Board Director there were Seventy-Seven (77) votes cast as follows:

Ed McLarty received Seventy-Two (72) votes
Tammy Matthey received Sixty-Nine (69) votes
Rhonda Miller (Write-in) received Two (2) votes

We therefore declare Ed McLarty and Tammy Matthey duly elected to the office of School Board for the term of 3 years.

For the office of Sioux City School Board Director there were Five Thousand Six Hundred Seven (5,607) votes cast as follows:

Ann N. James received Three Thousand Eight Hundred Fifty-One (3,851) votes
John Mayne received Three Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty-Two (3,862) votes
Mark D. Stuck received Two Thousand Three Hundred Eighty-Eight (2,388) votes
Write-ins received Fifteen (15) votes

We therefore declare Ann N. James and John Mayne duly elected to the office of School Board for the term of 3 years.

For the office of Westwood School Board Director District #1 there were Sixty-Nine (69) votes cast as follows:

Susan Mohning received Sixty-Nine (69) votes

We therefore declare Susan Mohning duly elected to the office of School Board #1 for the term of 3 years.

For the office of Woodbury Central School Board Director there were Seventy-Two (72) votes cast as follows:

Roger P. Klingensmith received Sixty-Four (64) votes
Jerry E. Steffen received Seventy (70) votes


We therefore declare Roger P. Klingensmith and Jerry E. Steffen duly elected to the office of School Board for the term of 3 years.

For the office of Woodbury Central School Board Director there were Seventy-Two (72) votes cast as follows:

Brian Sadler received Sixty-Three (63) votes

We therefore declare Brian Sadler duly elected to the office of School Board for the term of 2 year unexpired.

The Board adjourned the meeting.
