MARCH 11, 1999 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Thursday, March 11, 1999 at 1:00 P.M. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Clausen, Walish and Welte. Staff members present were Nancy Hodge, Board Administrative Coordinator, and Patrick F. Gill, County Auditor/Board Secretary.

The Board canvassed the March 9,1999 Special Tax Referendum Election with the following official results:

Vicki Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections, announced that there were 6 challenged ballots of which 1 was accepted and added to the Tally. There were also 4 after election absentee ballots which were postmarked prior to Election Day, were received timely and added to the Tally.

There were 788 ballots cast for the first proposition which read, The County of Woodbury shall levy an additional tax at the rate of $1.00 each year for 20 years beginning next July 1 in excess of the statutory limits otherwise applicable for the county services fund.

There were 8,064 ballots cast for the second proposition, which read, The County of Woodbury shall continue the general county services fund under the maximum rate of $3.50.

We therefore declare the second proposition to be adopted.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve and receive for signatures the canvass of the Additional Tax Levy Special Election. Carried 5-0.

A public hearing was held for the Fiscal Year 1999-2000 Woodbury County Budget.

The chairman called for anyone wishing to be heard.

Motion by Welte second by Walish to close the hearing. Carried 5-0.

Motion by Welte second by Boykin to decrease appropriations that were proposed for additional jail personnel, additional assistant county attorneys and additional transportation personnel by $1,312,367 and to reduce the corresponding general services tax levy for fiscal year 99-00. Carried 5-0.

Motion by Batcheller second by Walish to decrease appropriations by $21,666 for salaries of Elected Officials and their deputies. Carried 5-0.

Motion by Boykin second by Walish to adopt the fiscal year 1999-2000 County Budget as adjusted. Carried 5-0.

The Board adjourned the Special meeting.
