OCTOBER 30, 2012 — FORTYTHIRD MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.  Board members present were Clausen, Boykin, Tripp, Monson and Smith.  Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board. 
      
The Claims were approved as presented.  Copy filed.

The meeting was called to order.

Motion by Tripp second by Monson to approve the minutes of the 10/23/2012 Board meeting.  Carried 5-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Monson second by Boykin to approve the promotion of Patrick Hinrichsen, Deputy Sergeant, County Sheriff Dept., effective 10-31-12, $29.62/hour, 15.5%=$3.99/hour. Per County Sheriff, from Deputy to Deputy Sergeant; the appointment of Dawn LaFave, Civilian Jailer, County Sheriff Dept., effective 10-31-12, $16.40/hour.  Job vacancy posted: 8-29-12.  Entry level salary:  $16.40/hour; and the appointment of Lisa Ford, P/T Youth Worker, Juvenile Detention Dept., effective 10-31-12, $16.52/hour.  Job vacancy posted:  8-29-12.  Entry level salary:  $16.52/hour.  Carried 4-0; Tripp abstained.

Motion by Clausen second by Tripp to refer the bids to Human Resources, JD Pellersels for evaluation, review, and recommendation.  Carried 5-0. 

Motion by Clausen second by Monson to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Resolution setting the public hearing and sale date for Parcel #246195, 1616 Jackson St, Sioux City.  Carried 5-0.

NOTICE OF PROPERTY SALE

WHEREAS Woodbury County, Iowa was the owner under a tax deed of a certain parcel of real estate described as:

The South Fifty feet of Quarter Block One in Block Twelve, Higman’s Addition to Sioux City, except the West Ten feet thereof, in the County of Woodbury and State of Iowa
(1616 Jackson Street)

NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Woodbury County, Iowa as follows:

1.  That a public hearing on the aforesaid proposal shall be held on
the  13th  Day of November, 2012 at 10:15 o’clock a.m. in the meeting
room of the Board of Supervisors on the first floor of the Woodbury
County Courthouse.
     
2.  That said Board proposes to sell the said parcel of real estate at a
public auction to be held on the 13th Day of November, 2012,  immediately        
following the closing of the public hearing.
     
3.   That said Board proposes to sell the said real estate to the highest
bidder at or above a total minimum bid of $345.00 plus recording fees.

Motion by Monson second by Boykin to receive the Sheriff’s Civil Division First Quarter and Year to date Report.  Carried 5-0.  Copy filed.

The Chairperson asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda, or Supervisors concerns. 

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until November 6, 2012.
