JULY 8, 2025, TWENTY-EIGHTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS  

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. Board members present were Carper, Bittinger II, Ung, Nelson, and Dietrich. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Assistant, Melissa Thomas, Human Resources Director, Ryan Ericson, Budget and Finance Director, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Michelle Skaff, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.     

The regular meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a Moment of Silence.

Motion by Bittinger second by Nelson to approve the agenda for July 8, 2025. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Bittinger second by Nelson to approve the following items by consent:

To approve minutes of the July 1, 2025 meeting. Copy filed.
            
To approve the claims totaling $912,199.19. Copy filed.

To approve the appointment of Tamara Seger, Temporary Regular P/T Clerk II, Veteran Affairs Dept., effective 07-09-2025, $19.82/hour. Job Vacancy Posted 05-28-25. Entry Level Wage: $19.82/hour. Copy filed.

To approve the authorization of two temporary full-time civilian jailer positions in the Sheriff s Office. Copy filed.

Carried 5-0.

Motion by Bittinger second by Nelson to open and receive bids for a new rescue truck. The bids are as follows: 
Barry Motors, Danbury, IA            $60,980.00
Jensen LeMars Ford, LeMars, IA        $59,167.00
Sioux City Ford, Sioux City, IA        $60,500.00
Stivers Ford, Waukee, IA            $58,650.00

Motion by Nelson second by Ung to approve a total of $298,232 ($85,700 from FY26 CIP and $212,532 from L.O.S.T.) to fund one mile of road replacement at Little Sioux Park. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Reports on committee meetings were heard.

Auditor Michelle Skaff updated the board on the 20205 State Senate District 1 Special Election. Polling locations will be at the traditional polling places that include 12 schools in Sioux City and the Lawton Community Center.   

Board concerns were heard.

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until July 15, 2025.
