Motor Vehicles Registration Renewals
Online
- When renewing a vehicle registration online, a PIN or Audit Number is required to complete your transaction.
- The PIN can be found on the courtesy renewal notice. If your renewal notice does not have a PIN or there is a "stop" sign the notice, the vehicle registration does not qualify for online renewal.
- The Audit Number can be found on the lower portion of your vehicle registration.
- Half year renewals and apportioned vehicles are not eligible for online renewal.
In Person
To pay in person, visit one of our offices at the following locations:

- DRIVE-UP WINDOW
- The drive-up window at the Sioux City office is located on the south side of the Trosper-Hoyt building.
- Cash, check, and cards are accepted at the drive-up window for registration renewals.
- Cash payments over $2,000 are required to come inside to the lobby.
- Debit cards have a $2 added surcharge. Credit cards have a 2.25% added surcharge. Visa, Mastercard, or Discover accepted.
- If you are not the owner of the vehicle being renewed, you must provide the plate number. The postage will be charged, and the new registration will be mailed to the owner at the address on file.
By Mail
- If mailing your payment, make sure you have the proper U.S. Postal Service postmark date and allow ample time for processing and delivery.
- Include the bottom portion of your renewal notice.
- Make checks payable to Woodbury County Treasurer.

Drop Box
- An afterhours drop box is available at the Trosper-Hoyt Building by the drive-up window. Include the bottom portion of your renewal notice with your check or money order, payable to Woodbury County Treasurer.
** When paying by mail or drop box, always use a check or money order. **
**A Fee of $30.00 will be charged for all dishonored checks, drafts or orders as prescribed in Iowa Code 554.3512. **
